FILM AND TV
Ian Sharp
Founder - Sharp House & Revolution Talent, Co-Owner - Scunthorpe United FC

Tell us about yourself...

I was born a raised in Scunthorpe. My family are still in the town. I moved to London at 19 to study acting at the Arts Educational Schools.

I’ve acted in various productions from the BBC's Happy Valley, Code of Silence to Les Miserables in the London’s west end.

In 2016 I founded the film and TV production company Sharp House. I have produced and executive produced multiple feature films and worked with most major streaming platforms and television broadcasters including Netflix, Disney, Amazon and the BBC.

Credits include:

The Marker, Pleasure Island, Monsoon, Martyrs Lane, Undergods, Northern Soul and the official Sundance Film Festival selected Halston and Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist.

I have recently produced, The Matriarch for Disney Studios and Black Dog which premiered at the BFI London Film Festival.

Having a passion for nurturing talent, particularly in media and sport, I founded the London based media talent agency Revolution Talent, which represents over 300 leading international creatives from actors, directors, writers to influencers.

I’ve also invested in multiple media and sports companies, one being an independent youth football development centre in West London for ages between 8 and 16 years old. Generation Football has children at leading footballing academies from Chelsea, Brentford, Arsenal to one day Scunthorpe United.

In late 2023 I became part of a new consortium which took new ownership of our beloved Scunthorpe United.

I am also a director of a newly formed community interest company

(CIC) partnering with North Lincolnshire Council to acquire Scunthorpe United's football stadium and surrounding land, securing the club's future for generations to come.

What brought you to Scunthorpe Tomorrow?

For some time, I have always wanted to further reconnect with Scunthorpe and when approached by Rob to be involved, I jumped at the chance.

I’ve always had the most incredible sense of pride coming from Scunthorpe and working in the entertainment

business.

It's a town that has historically been overlooked and not known for creativity. In my own small way, I would love to be a part of changing that narrative and perhaps my journey could inspire the next generation to go for their dreams.

What are you looking to achieve from your involvement?

The town and community are incredibly important to me. I would like that demonstrate that you can come from a small town with a challenging background and still pursue your ambitions, whatever they may be.

I have been in London more than half my life and have been incredibly fortunate to meet some of most exceptional entrepreneurs and business leaders. Perhaps being an insider with an outsider’s perspective can be of benefit to the next budding entrepreneurs and/or the established business community.

I also want to bring my network to the town and hopefully create new opportunities.

What do you see as the main opportunities for our area in the next few years?

I see Scunthorpe and Lincolnshire as a town and county full of untapped potential with an opportunity to shape a new and exciting identity, whilst respecting its strong past.

Why can’t Scunthorpe United be one of the most innovative football clubs across the globe? Why can’t Lincolnshire be the creative county of the UK? Perhaps there can be a new Lincolnshire film studios.

With a genuine collective collaboration, I believe we can create a new narrative that we can all be proud of. There is unbelievable talent in Scunthorpe and the region but sometimes you need to see it to believe it.

What’s your top recommendation to any visitor to North Lincolnshire?

Obviously your first visit should be to the Attis Arena to watch the mighty Scunthorpe United. I would then highly recommend an evening of entertainment at either the Baths Hall or Plowright Theatre.
